Like the title at the top says, I am Jenna. Let me just start by saying, I am so glad you're here! The fact that you have taken the time out of your day to come here to my brand new blog and read the things I have to say about LIFE, means the world to me. So, thank YOU!

It doesn't feel right to not include a picture of me up here so, here is the most recent *decent* picture of me that I have!😅😅😅

📣Shoutouts📣

Before I get going on the "Get to Know Me" part of this post I want to give 2 HUGE shoutouts!

  1. My first shoutout has to go to my friend Rachel Harrell who has her very own blog that I enjoy reading. Actually, enjoy is not a strong enough word... I'll say this about Rachel's blog; I look forward to her posts AND feel so inspired by her open, honest, and loving nature. She is so compelling that I am starting my own blog! Rachel, I strive to live my life to the fullest just like you do! You are amazing, and thank you!💕 
  2. My second shoutout is to my friend Madie Ice, who is an incredible photographer here in Georgia, just saying 😜😜😜. Madie has been an inspiration to me from day 1! We met in an intro art class in high school, she was in 9th grade and I was in 11th. I have been so lucky to get the experience of watching her grow as a person and become the fantastic and wonderful young woman she is today. Madie shares who she is with the world without hesitation and I am just so moved by her courage and strength that she shows at every turn. Madie, I want to be just like you when I grow up! 💕
But for real, how did I get so lucky to call these 2 phenomenal women my friends?!?!

Get to Know Me!

Now, onto the "Get to Know Me" part of this!

Name: Jenna Mackenzie

Yes, that's my full name. If this goes well, one day I'll tell the story of how that came to be my name. BUT, for now, we'll just leave it at that 😉. 

Age: 22

I know that sounds young BUT I have packed a lot of life into those years.

Occupation: Teacher

I love teaching and working with students. I would say my job is a major defining factor in who I am as a person.

Some Facts About Me:

  • I have cancer. To be more specific, I have stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. What is supposed to be my last chemotherapy treatment *fingers crossed* EVER is set for this Friday (10/30/2020)! It will be #8 for me. I have been sharing updates on my personal social media pages and that has helped me realize how much writing out my thoughts helps me process what I am going through and cope with it.

  • I am engaged to my best friend IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, Christian Marshall Coleman. We got engaged about a month before I was diagnosed. So, we have not properly celebrated, YET! We will have to throw a HUGE party when COVID is controlled and I have an immune system again!!!

  • Christian and I own 3 WONDERFUL dogs; Dexter (left), Coach (right), and Ivy (middle). 
  • I LOVE sewing. I would not say I am the best at it by any means BUT I am learning all the time and practicing my craft!

  • I thrive on being creative. Writing, sewing, sculpting, you name it! If it is something I can make my own I am ALL about it!
  • I am TERRIBLE about spending money! Seriously, don't take me to a fabric store unless you want to spend a SIGNIFICANT amount of time browsing and listening to me ramble about all of the "projects" I "need" the fabric for! 😂😂😂
  • I am HUGE fan of the NBA. I, of course, have MAJOR love for my Atlanta Hawks *cough cough* John Collins!

What to Expect From My Blog

I have not 100% decided how this blog will look, grow, and change as I write more for it. I know that I want to be as honest and transparent as possible. My "plan," if you can even call it that, consists of the following 3 things.
  1. I will write when I need to.
  2. I will write when I want to. 
  3. I will ALWAYS write the truth.
Beyond those 3 things, who knows what will become of this site? My hope is that what I write will help others to cope with the things they are having to face. Maybe, I'll even inspire someone to take the leap and share some of themselves the way my 2 friends have me.

1/9/2022----Cancer Update It has been since December 14/15 since I gave a true cancer update. I don't necessarily feel like anyone has been “waiting” for my update but I think I have sat on my new information long enough. Funny enough, making cancer update posts actually alleviates me having to answer tons of individual questions from those in my day-to-day life so, do not worry about me doing this for you. I promise it is mostly selfish LOL 😂😅. If you’re new around here, I’ll spare you the long version of the story. But, these are the “highlights” of my journey thus far. June 9, 2024 (5 days After)  Dear Dexter, I miss you. We all miss you. The terrible part is, the world has continued on in your absence, something about that feels wrong. It feels wrong to smile, to have fun because you aren't here anymore. I'd like to imagine you're running again, and that you're seeing clearly. I picture you rolling around in soft green grass, feeling no pain.  What have I been up to? Not too much, just ugly crying at least 3 times a day, painting the kitchen (finally! LOL), sewing (of course), and trying to keep up with Coach & Ivy. I bought new socks, Dexter, that's my excitement in life at the moment. I know it sounds ridiculous but you know what they always say, its the little things in life. I guess that's true. Thank God for socks.  We love you. We'll carry you with us in our hearts.  Rest easy Baby Bear. Take care of Papa for me.  Love, Mommy
